| Keith Branagan |
Ipswich Born: 7/10/66 Hometown: Fulham |
| Signed initially on loan from Bolton Wanderers as cover for Richard Wright, Branagan ironically took his place on the bench in the first division semi-final play-off games against his former side having been signed on a permanent basis from the Trotters just days before.Born in Fulham the man with just one full international cap for Republic of Ireland spent the early part of his professional career with Cambridge United, but a later move to Millwall witnessed a frustrating four years at the Den with only fragmented appearances. But after a free transfer move to Bolton in 1992 the keeper's career took off and he quickly became a favourite under the managership of Colin Todd fending off the challenge of both Gavin Ward and Aidan Davison. Not the tallest of goalkeepers but a consistent and dependable performer he became extremely popular at the Reebok Stadium. Now approaching the veteran stage there is little doubt that the vast experience of Branagan will compliment the hugely talented and recognised number one keeper Wright. |
