Fiorentina 3, Perugia 4
November 4, 2000
Fiorentina suffered their first defeat of the season at home against Perugia and stay in eighth position in the league table.

Fiorentina opened the scoring after 24 minutes through

midfielder Angelo di Livio. His shot from outside the penalty area surprised Perugia goalkeeper Andrea Mazzantini.

Perugia slowly reorganised and the equaliser was scored six minutes before the break by Zissis Vryzas who headed home a free kick by Ze Elias.

Luca Saudati gave the lead to Perugia from the penalty spot after di Livio handled. The young striker was loaned from AC Milan last week and appeared in the line-up for the first time against Fiorentina.

Leandro equalised for Fiorentina in injury time of the

first half. He scored from arebound after a shot from Portuguese midfielder Rui Costa came back off the bar.

Greek striker Vryzas scored his second goal of the match giving the lead back to Perugia after a mistake by Paolo Vanoli.

The team of Turkish coach Fatih Terim went searching for the equaliser and they came close when a shot by Rui Costa hit the post.

The match was decided when midfielder Giovanni Tedesco extended the scoring with his fifth goal in three years for Perugia.

Fiorentina created some more excitement when Leandro headed home his fourth goal of the season.

Fiorentina got a small boost when Roberto Goretti was sent off, but two good opportunities for Nuno Gomes were saved by Perugia goalkeeper Mazzantini and a shot by Enrico Chiesa hit the crossbar.
