| Parma suffered a major setback in their attempt to qualify for European football this season after falling to an embarrassing defeat at the hands of bottom of the table Reggina.
The match was played under a clear blue sky and on a perfectly conditioned pitch in Parma.
As early as the first minute of the game Parma got their first scare of the match when Buffon denied a shot by Dionigi, after a pass by Marazzina.
In the 11th minute Parma got their first big chance of the match when Almeyda penetrated the Reggina defence, only to blast his shot over the bar.
In the 18th minute Buffon was forced into action for the second time in the match, this time making a good save to stop Marazzina's effort.
Against the run of play, the visitors took a surprise lead in the 20th minute of the game. Dionigi latched onto Marazzina's cross to head home from close range.
For the remainder of the half scoring opportunies were few and far between and the scoreline remained the same at the break.
Three minutes into the second half Parma came close to finding the equaliser, but Yugoslav striker Savo Milosevic was denied by Reggina keeper Taibi.
The visitors then doubled their lead in the 54th minute when Dionigi again rose first in the box to head home Marazzina's corner past the rooted Buffon.
Parma only once came close to getting a consolation goal, when a blast by Appiah was saved by Taibi.
