Brescia 1, Perugia 0
January 13, 2001
Two red cards for Perugia in the first half made it easy for Brescia to gain their first home victory of the season.

They had not won a home game in Serie A since March 1998. They climb to 16th position in the league table.

Perugia failed to win again after their 3-1 victory over Udinese last week and their series of five games without defeat ended.

Brescia dominated the initial phase of the match, however they did not create many chances because of the fine defending by Perugia.

After 20 minutes they finally found the net. Andres Roberto Yllana received the ball from Massimiliano Esposito and he fired home past Perugia keeper Andrea Mazzantini, for his first goal for Brescia.

Brescia kept attacking, with Kubilay Turkyilmaz and Yllana failing to convert good chances.

Perugia did not manage to escape the pressure from Brescia. It led to two red cards in two minutes.

First Davide Baiocco was sent off for protesting and Fabio Liverani followed after his second bookable offence. Both players received their first red card of the season.

As expected the second half was completely dominated by Brescia, with Perugia trying to break out occasionally. However Brescia still played very carefully against nine men.

Several further chances came, as Turkyilmaz saw a shot saved by Perugia keeper Mazzantini.

An effort by Jonathan Bachini, from a cross by Dario Hubner, rebounded off the post.

The level of the game decreased more and more as Perugia could not form an attack.

At the other side of the pitch, Brescia could not find a second goal. An effort by Turkyilmaz hit the post and turned out to be the only highlight in the second half.

In the final phase of the match Esposito and Hubner saw their efforts saved by Mazzantini, while Turkyilmaz wasted a one-on-one chance with the keeper.
