Martin Astudillo tied the score at one just prior to halftime and Ruben Navarro netted the winner with 10 minutes left as Alaves, which reached the final of the UEFA Cup in 2001, won on the road. The lone disappointment for coach Mane was an injury to Jordi Cruyff's left ankle with five minutes remaining. The victory lifted the spirits of the Vitorian club, which lost its home opener last weekend against Racing Santander. Mane's club has a tight turnaround following its trip to Turkey with this weekend's Liga Primera match against Villarreal on Sunday evening. Right back Geli will miss the match against Villarreal through suspension.
