Coach: Gordon Strachan (since November 1996) Premiership
Record: 8-20-10
Rank: 19th, 34 points - RELEGATED
Last Result: 0-0 tie vs. Bradford City, May 19
Streak: Tied 1 A game Coventry City and its supporters had little appetite for, there was a surreal atmosphere at Highfield Road during the last game in the Premiership. After 34 years of top-flight football, the thought of having to play in a lower division is hard to stomach for the footballing Houdinis. Coventry had flirted with relegation many times since the mid-1960's. Bradford City, on the other hand, which had spent 77 years trying to get into the top division, already was resigned to return lower down and their fans were in carnival mood. Good thing too because the dour game offered little to entertain and it was left to Bradford's fans with their quick banter to lift their rivals out of their Sky "Blues." No doubt it will be a different story when they square up to each other next season. Coventry captain Paul Williams has warned his team-mates that they face a tough time in the First Division One. Talking on the club's website he said, "It will be very hard. There's far more hustle and bustle about the First Division. We'll go to most grounds as favourites - that's something we'll have to adjust to and cope with. Craig Bellamy was the club's top scorer with only eight goals in the season, six of them in the Premiership.
