TEAM NOTES
Coach: Paco Flores (3rd year) Liga Primera
Record: 9-10-7
Rank: 11th, 34 points
Last Result: 1-1 tie at Osasuna, February 17
Streak: Tied 1 Next Game: vs. Las Palmas, February 24 Espanyol ran their unbeaten streak to four games with a 1-1 draw against Osasuna in Pamplona last weekend. Raul Tamudo scored just his second goal in the last eight games, but Sabino's strike midway through the second half levelled the score for Osasuna. Espanyol remain winless in their last ten matches away from home, but Coach Paco Flores was satisfied in his club's effort in their last two away games. Uruguayan forward Antonio Pacheco made his first start of the season since joining the club from Inter while Portuguese international Paulo Sousa made his Liga Primera debut as a substitute. Club officials are looking to retain Mexican international forward Juan Francisco Palencia on loan for another season from Cruz Azul. Argentine forward Martin Posse took an oath of citizenship this week and thus will no longer count as a non-EU player. Club elections will be held at Espanyol on April 21. All indications are that current President Daniel Sanchez Llibre will return for another five-year term. Espanyol host Las Palmas this weekend with a chance to get back in the European race at stake. Espanyol have lost just four of 29 previous meetings against Las Palmas at home.
