TEAM NOTES
Coach: Dave Bassett (since October 2001) Premiership
Record: 3 - 15 - 8
Rank: 20th, 17 points
Last Result: 2-1 loss at Tottenham Hotspur, February 9
Streak: Lost 4 Next Game: vs. Derby County, February 23 Leicester City has taken only four points from the last 33 available. Once again, the Foxes came up a goal short of salvaging something, this time against a Tottenham team that scored through Darren Anderton and Simon Davies before Stefan Oakes halved the deficit with a fierce free kick 11 minutes from the end. But the game was marred by Mauricio Tarrico's gamesmanship, the Argentine collapsing and clutching his face after what appeared to be minimal / no contact from Andrew Impey. The latter was incensed and got himself booked, while his boss Dave Bassett was left fuming at Tarrico's antics. To add to Bassett's problems, Alan Rogers has been ruled out for three to six weeks because he requires knee surgery. Eleven points at least from safety with only 12 games left Leicester must beat fellow strugglers Derby County in their next game if they're not to slip further behind. Muzzy Izzet is poised to join Middlesbrough for $8.7 million and will spend the weekend mulling over such a move. Brian Deane is expected to be available for selection after being out six weeks with a torn calf muscle. Sir Rodney Walker has advised the board that he intends to stand down as chairman in August when the club moves into its new stadium.
