TEAM NOTES
Coach: Gustavo Benitez (took over Gregorio Manzano after Week 27) Liga Primera
Record: 10-19-9
Rank: 19th, 39 points
Last Result: 3-0 win vs. Athletic Bilbao, June 16
Streak: Won 1 A week after being assured of relegation for the first time in eight years, Racing posted a 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in their season finale. Racing spent the last 24 weeks of the season in the relegation zone. Despite the midseason acquisitions of Uruguayans Mario Regueiro of Federico Magallanes and Argentine Javier Mazzoni, Racing were unable to improve their road form. Regueiro and Magallanes have been called in for Uruguay's World Cup qualifier on July 1 against Brazil. Racing finished the season with zero wins away from home. Jose Emilio Amavisca was rumored to be on his way to Alaves next season.
