| TEAM NOTES | Coach: Glenn Roeder (since June 2001) Premiership Record: 0-4-1 Rank: 20th, 1 point Last Result: 3-2 loss at Tottenham Hotspur, September 15 Streak: Lost 3 Next Game: vs. Manchester City, September 21 West Ham United is reeling from its worst start to a season in 40 years. The Hammers have yet to win a game and have taken only one point from five matches so far. However, they were unlucky to lose against Tottenham Hotspur, having twice come back from a one-goal deficit at White Hart Lane through Frederic Kanoute and Trevor Sinclair. But in the 89th minute, Anthony Gardner's shot deflected past goalkeeper David James and there was no way back after that. According to coach Glenn Roeder, West Ham "contributed to all three Spurs goals with poor defending." ... The Hammers will be hoping to make it five wins out of five in Premiership meetings against Manchester City at Upton Park. They never have scored fewer than three goals in the fixture with the last encounter in November 2000 finishing 4-1 in favor of West Ham.
