Chicago's rich sports tradition has a long history. Iconic sports heroes such as Michael Jordan, Walter Payton and Ernie Banks called the Windy City home. Three of the city's professional teams -- the Bears, Blackhawks and Cubs -- were charter members of their respective professional leagues, entrenching Chicago as one of the top sports towns in America.

Chicago can provide something for everyone as far as pro sports are concerned. From the pair that share the United Center -- the Bulls and Blackhawks -- to the crosstown baseball rivals -- the White Sox and Cubs -- and of course "Da Bears." There are also the WNBA's Chicago Sky, the MLS' Chicago Fire and an annual NASCAR event held at the Chicagoland Speedway. The city's metro area is also home to numerous horse-racing tracks and minor league affiliates for a number of sports, as well as the world-famous roller derby women of The Windy City Rollers.
