1 -- NCAA tournament wins by Miami before this season. The Hurricanes will be making their first Sweet 16 appearance.
2-18 -- Record of No. 5 seeds in regional semifinal games since 1985. Only Virginia (1989) and Mississippi State ('96) have advanced to the Elite Eight, with only the Bulldogs making it to the Final Four.
3 -- Teams that have made two trips to the Sweet 16 as a double-digit seed -- Louisiana State (1986, '87), Texas ('90 and '97) and Gonzaga ('99 and '00).
4 -- Teams in the Sweet 16 that won their conference tournaments -- Duke (ACC), Gonzaga (WCC), Iowa State (Big 12) and Michigan State (Big Ten).

17 -- Sweet 16 appearances made by North Carolina in the past 20 years, the most of any school.
19 -- Years since Tennessee last played in a regional semifinal game. The Vols lost to Virginia 62-48 in 1981.
31 -- Wins by both Tulsa and Iowa State so far this season, tied for tops in the nation.
39 -- Double-digit seeds to make the Sweet 16 since 1979. Tenth-seeded Gonzaga and Seton Hall joined the list this year. The double-digit seeds are 9-28 in the regional semifinal games.
52 -- Most points ever scored in a regional semifinal game. Notre Dame's Austin Carr lit up Kentucky in a 1970 Mideast Region semifinal game, but the Fighting Irish lost 109-99.
59 -- Years since Wisconsin won back-to-back tournament games. The Badgers won the national championship in 1941, when the tournament was only eight teams.
74-73 -- Score of the 1997 Midwest Regional semifinal between Iowa State and UCLA, won by the Bruins in overtime. The two schools will meet again Thursday in another Midwest Regional semifinal.
111 -- Tournament games played by North Carolina, second-most in history. Only Kentucky (121) has played more.
