The Fan Zone: Pete Sampras
"You have to respect and appreciate a guy who can both win and show some class for his sport and himself while doing it. here's to hoping Pete keeps winning his way in a sport with way too many want-to-be champions who can't keep their mouth shut."

WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -- Greg Rusedski and Anna Kournikova have overcome injuries and plan to play at Wimbledon, an official said Sunday.

Rusedski, the No. 4 seed and fastest server in the game, was rated 50-50 for Wimbledon after spraining his left ankle at the Queen's Club tournament 10 days ago.

But he has been undergoing daily treatment and resumed practicing.

In a statement, Wimbledon said Rusedski "successfully completed a practice session this morning and has indicated that he will be playing in the Championships."

Rusedski reached the quarterfinals here last year and, along with Tim Henman, offers the best hope of a British man winning Wimbledon for the first time since Fred Perry in 1936.

On the women's side, WTA Tour officials said Kournikova looks set to play despite suffering a sprained right thumb during her quarterfinl victory over Steffi Graf last Thursday at Eastbourne.

Kournikova, who reached the semifinals last year and is seeded No. 12, withdrew from Eastbourne as a precaution and saw a medical specialist Sunday.

Both Rusedski and Kournikova are scheduled to play their first-round matches Tuesday.
