Sampras has won every Grand Slam title except for the French Open. Sampras says, "I need challenges and winning the French would be the ultimate one."
However, he's been plagued by injuries in 1999 and may not have enough to make a run at the title this year. Sampras' best showing at Roland Garros was a semifinal loss to Yevgeny Kafelnikov in 1996. Of Sampras' 56 career titles, only three have come on clay.
