WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -- A brief look at what happened Monday on the first day of the Wimbledon tennis championships: Weather: Mostly sunny skies. High temperature was 68 F without a drop of rain after three of the wettest Wimbledon's in history. Attendance: 36,471. A new record for the first Monday. The previous record for the first Monday was 34,154. Last year, first-day attendance was 33,838. Results: No seeded players were beaten. The seeded men winning were: No. 1 Pete Sampras, No. 6 Tim Henman, No. 7 Mark Philippoussis, No. 9 Greg Rusedski, No. 12 Carlos Moya, No. 13 Karol Kucera, No. 16 Felix Mantilla. The seeded women advancing were: No. 2 Steffi Graf, No. 4 Monica Seles, No. 6 Venus Williams, No. 8 Nathalie Tauziat, No. 12 Amanda Coetzer, No. 15 Dominique Van Roost, No. 17 Anna Kournikova. Stat of the Day: Pete Sampras won 90 percent of his first serve points. Quote of the Day: "I was very keyed up and very eager to play well today. Obviously I would love to win here.
