With Patrick Rafter sitting out the Australian Open, Hewitt has to be considered the second-favorite Australian behind Mark Philippoussis to have a shot at winning the Australian Open. The 18-year-old collected his second and third career titles earlier this month with wins in the Australian hardcourt and the adidas International tournaments.
