Anna Kournikova Clay Beauty: Anna Kournikova is a huge draw even if she is not a favorite to win at the French Open. Ezra Shaw/Allsport

By Pedro Pinto, CNNSI.com

Who commands the most media attention on the women's tour at Roland Garros?

It's neither Martina Hingis nor Lindsay Davenport, the top two ranked players in the world, but rather Anna Kournikova.

The Russian teenager has yet to win a title in her career, but that fact did not seem to bother the dozens of fans who flocked to watch her practice on Friday. With camera flashes snapping and tapes rolling, the 18 year-old Kournikova waltzed across the court, appearing to love every minute of the attention.

One just has to wonder what would happen if she would win a tournament...

Notes:

  • There is no question that the favourite to win this event is Hingis.

The world number one, who at 19 years of age has already captured 29 career titles including 5 grand slams, has yet to reign victorious in Paris, but after making it into the final last year, says she is ready to go all the way.

The Swiss miss told us that she feels fresh and believes she has matured a lot since her loss to Steffi Graf in the 99 title match.

  • There was more activity at Roland Garros on Friday, as several qualifying matches were played. The light rain did not keep the faithful tennis fans away, as people poured in all afternoon to be part of one of the most glamorous and prestigious events of the year.
