LONDON (Reuters) -- Second seed Andre Agassi staged a stunning comeback on Friday, fighting back from 5-2 down in the final set against fellow American Todd Martin and saving two match points before winning 6-4, 2-6, 7-6, 2-6, 10-8.

Returning to court two sets to one up after an overnight break in the second round match, Agassi looked a lost man as he dropped the fourth set and was broken early in the fifth.

A double fault by Agassi in the seventh game left Martin just needing to hold his service to win.

But, watched by partner Steffi Graf, Agassi fought back tenaciously, breaking Martin's serve twice in a row to draw level at 5-5 as Martin's confidence began to ebb.

Displaying his famous touch and stunning returns Agassi, last year's losing finalist here, broke Martin's serve in the 18th game of the set to win and now faces Jerome Golmard of France in the third round.

Late on Thursday, Agassi left the All England Club under a cloud, furious with championship referee Alan Mills for keeping the players on court until after the Las Vegan had slipped on the damp grass.

Agassi had to pull out of the Queen's tournament two weeks ago when he slid and injured his back.
