Bjorkman wins another Swede moves on to fourth round at WimbledonPosted: Friday June 30, 2000 11:40 AM
LONDON (Reuters) -- Sweden's Jonas Bjorkman steered a safe course into the fourth round at Wimbledon on Friday with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory over qualifier Neville Godwin of South Africa. It was the 28-year-old doubles specialist's best performance at the championships since his first appearance here in 1994 when he also reached the last 16. Bjorkman, winner of the grasscourt Nottingham tournament two years ago, used his volleying skills to overpower the 203rd-ranked Godwin, one of five qualifiers to reach the third round this year. Godwin, 25, fought hard in the third set, breaking back after going behind in the first game, but his fragile serve failed again in the ninth game and Bjorkman served out to love for the match.
