Dokic impressive again at Wimbledon

WIMBLEDON (Reuters) -- With her volatile father on his best behavior at courtside, Australian Jelan Dokic sailed into the Wimbledon quarter-finals on Monday with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over American Kristina Brandi.

Unseeded Dokic, who caused one of the biggest upsets in Wimbledon history when knocking out top seed Martina Hingis last year, was in devastating form from the baseline.

The 17-year-old served with pinpoint accuracy, her cross-court shots were devastating and the power of her deep returns never faltered.

Brandi managed to break Dokic's serve once in the opening game of a one-sided first set.

In the second set, she was speedily broken in the third game and a rain break did nothing to lessen the intensity of Dokic, who next faces Spanish claycourt specialist Magui Serna.

Damir Dokic was warned last week to behave or face expulsion from Wimbledon. He was escorted from the All England Club by police after an altercation with journalists in which a mobile telephone was smashed.

On Monday, he was on his best behavior, applauding politely from the sidelines on Court Number Three. Afterwards he said: "She has a good chance."
