LONDON (Reuters) -- Eighth seed Serena Williams joined elder sister Venus in the Wimbledon quarterfinals on Monday with a 6-1, 6-1 demolition of Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn.

Williams, who has lost just 11 games in four matches here, will face fellow American Lisa Raymond in the last eight. Raymond beat Belarussian Olga Barabanschikova 6-4, 6-2.

The U.S. Open champion missed last year's Wimbledon with influenza, but is certainly leaving her mark this time around.

Having served out the opening game to love on a sunny Court Two, Williams allowed 40th-ranked Tanasugarn to hold for 1-1.

That was the only game she allowed her opponent in that set, however, and she broke twice before serving out at 6-1, finishing off with an ace in only 21 minutes.

Williams broke Tanasugarn's serve and fighting spirit in the first game of the second set, effortlessly hitting winners past the Thai.

She had no problem holding her own serve, pushing Tanasugarn wide or sliding aces down the middle.

The 18-year-old broke again for 3-0 as Tanasugarn ran out of ideas of how to combat Williams's power. A brief lapse in concentration saw Williams struggle in the 11th game as she let a 40-0 lead slip and had to save two break points before her serve finally saved her.

Tanasugarn, who lost the pair's only previous battle in three sets in 1997, held for 1-4 as Williams eased off a little but the American was always in total control and closed out two games later.

The Williams sisters may meet in the semifinals but first Venus has to get past world number one Martina Hingis in the last eight.
