Men 1938 -- Don Budge, United States Budge defeated John Bromwich in the Australian final, Roderick Menzel in the French, Henry Austin at Wimbledon and Gene Mako in the U.S. Open to complete his Grand Slam. 1962 -- Rod Laver, Australia Laver defeated Roy Emerson in the Australian and French finals, Marty Mulligan at Wimbledon and Emerson again in the U.S. Open to complete his Grand Slam. 1969 -- Rod Laver, Australia Laver defeated Andres Gimeno in the Australian final, Ken Rosewall in the French, John Newcombe at Wimbledon and Tony Roche in the U.S. Open to complete his Grand Slam.
Women 1953 -- Maureen Connolly, United States Connolly defeated Julia Sampson in the Australian final and Doris Hart in the French, Wimbledon and U.S. Open finals to complete her Grand Slam. 1970 -- Margaret Smith Court, Australia Smith defeated Kerry Melville in the Australian final, Helga Niessen in the French, Billie Jean King at Wimbledon and Rosie Casals at the U.S. Open to complete her Grand Slam. 1988 -- Steffi Graf, West Germany Graf defeated Chris Evert in the Australian final, Natalia Zvereva in the French, Martina Navratilova at Wimbledon and Gabriela Sabatini at the U.S. Open to complete her Grand Slam. |
