Corretja bows out Injury will keep French Open finalist from WimbledonUpdated: Monday June 18, 2001 4:23 PM
LONDON (Reuters) -- French Open finalist Alex Corretja of Spain has pulled out of Wimbledon with a leg injury, tournament referee Alan Mills said on Sunday. Corretja was beaten in four sets by Brazil's Gustavo Kuerten in the French Open final a week ago. He then traveled to Germany for the $975,000 grass court tournament in Halle which players use as a warmup for Wimbledon only to lose in the first round 6-0, 6-2 to Jerome Golmard of France. Corretja, a claycourt specialist, climbed to seventh in the ATP Champions Race after reaching the final at Roland Garros. Others already out of Wimbledon include Kuerten, who also has a leg injury, Chilean Marcelo Rios and France's Arnaud di Pasquale.
