Injured Norman pulls out of Wimbledon

STOCKHOLM. Sweden (AP) -- A hip injury has forced Swedish tennis star Magnus Norman to pull out of Wimbledon.

Norman, who was seeded 18 and slated to open against Lars Burgsmuller of Germany, announced his decision Thursday.

The 25-year-old Swede's problems started last December, on the eve of the Australian Open. Despite a series of tests and a three-week rest from the ATP tour, doctors have so far been unable to establish what causes the pain. New tests are expected next week.

Norman said he wanted to make a comeback in July at the Swedish Open in Bastad, where he won the first championship of his career four years ago.
