Andre Agassi Agassi advances to take on France's Nicolas Escude in the quarterfinals. AP

LONDON (Reuters) -- Second seed Andre Agassi used his killer return to down Germany's Nicolas Kiefer 6-3, 7-5, 7-5 on Monday and reach the quarterfinals.

Agassi, champion in 1992, broke the 19th-seeded German's serve eight times in the match. When Kiefer ventured to the net Agassi passed the German mercilessly.

The Australian Open champion never really got his own serve into gear, but held when it mattered to complete his fourth career win over Kiefer.

Agassi, looking fresh in the sultry heat despite, at 31, being the oldest man in the draw, has yet to drop a set in the championships.

He meets Nicolas Escude of France, who ousted Lleyton Hewitt on Monday, in the quarterfinals.
