WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -- Top-seeded Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbs won the Wimbledon women's doubles title Sunday, defeating Kim Clijsters of Belgium and Ai Sugiyama of Japan 6-4, 6-3.

Raymond, an American, and Stubbs, from Australia, won each of their six matches in straight sets.

It was the second Grand Slam title for the American-Australian team to go with their victory in the 2000 Australian Open. It was the fifth time they teamed up at Wimbledon. Their previous best showings at the All England Club were semifinal finishes in 1998 and 2000.

Wimbledon was also the fifth title of the year for Raymond and Stubbs, with wins in Tokyo on carpet, Scottsdale on hard court, Charleston on clay and Eastbourne on grass. They were also runners-up in Sydney, Miami and Madrid.

Clijsters and Sugiyama, who conceded just one set on their way to the final when they faced Jelena Dokic and Conchita Martinez in the third round, were far less experienced in playing together.

Clijsters teamed up with Sugiyama, currently the world's No. 1 -ranked doubles player, for the first time in San Diego a year ago. They have decided to form a regular partnership.
