WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -- For the fourth time in five days, rain delayed play at Wimbledon on Friday, forcing the men's semifinals to start nearly 2 1-2 hours late and then causing one match to be suspended.

Lleyton Hewitt was leading local hope Tim Henman 7-5, 3-0 when rain again hit Centre Court.

Play had been scheduled to start at 12 noon. But due to light morning showers, the players didn't appear on Centre Court until 40 minutes later.

Hewitt and Henman spent 10 minutes warming up before rain came again and the court was covered. More than 90 minutes later, play finally started, but they only played for about 70 minutes when rain returned.

The other semifinal between Xavier Malisse of Belgium and David Nalbandian of Argentina had not begun.

Venus and Serena Williams, who are due to play in the women's final Saturday, won their quarterfinal doubles match moments before the rain returned.
