PARIS (AP) -- France's Sandrine Testud is pregnant and retiring from tennis, a French newspaper reported Friday.

"My life as a tennis player is over, really over," Testud told L'Equipe. "I won't return to the circuit after the birth."

"It's going to be strange to suddenly be staying at home, because for so many years, I've been between planes, between tournaments," Testud said.

Testud said she learned she was pregnant at a June tournament in Birmingham, Britain. The 30-year-old player lost in straight sets to countrywoman Mary Pierce in the second round at Wimbledon this year.

Testud withdrew from women's doubles at Wimbledon on Monday with an upset stomach.
