MELBOURNE, Jan 15 (Reuters) -- Fourth seed Juan Carlos Ferrero matched his best performance at the Australian Open when he beat Jean-Rene Lisnard of France 6-0, 6-4, 6-2 on Wednesday.

The Spaniard crushed Lisnard in less than an hour and a half to reach the third round for the second time in three visits to Melbourne Park.

Ferrero made the final of last year's French Open and was a semifinalist in Paris the two previous years, but has never gone beyond the fourth round in any of the other Grand Slam tournaments.

The clay-court specialist reached the third round of the Australian Open in 2000 but was knocked out in the second round 12 months later. He pulled out of last year's tournament with a knee injury.
