MELBOURNE, Jan 16 (Reuters) -- Fourth seed Kim Clijsters destroyed Hungary's Petra Mandula 6-0, 6-0 in little more than half an hour on Thursday to race into the third round of the Australian Open.

Clijsters powered through in 33 minutes, easily the fastest match of the tournament so far, to once again show why she is one of the championship favorites.

The Belgian conceded just 17 points to Mandula, who became only the 13th woman to fail to win a single game in a completed match at the Australian Open.

The ruthless manner of the win underlined her intent to make her Grand Slam breakthrough here.

"I'm happy with my game -- I'm playing well," the Belgian said. "I feel very much at home here."

Clijsters reached last year's semifinals in Melbourne but is looming as an even bigger danger this time to the top two seeds Serena and Venus Williams after winning four of her last five tournaments.

She plays Tatiana Poutchek in the next round after the Belarussian beat Spain's Cristina Torrens Valero 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
