LONDON, June 5 (Reuters) -- Andre Agassi will play his 1,000th match at next week's Stella Artois Championship after accepting a wildcard into the tournament's main draw.

Agassi is the third former Wimbledon winner to enter the tournament. Croatia's Goran Ivanisevic and Richard Krajicek of the Netherlands have also been given wildcards for the traditional warm-up event for the grasscourt Grand Slam.

"He [Agassi] has accepted a wild card into the tournament. We are absolutely thrilled. It helps complete the tournament," event spokeswoman Hilary Peck said on Thursday.

American Agassi, who lost in the quarterfinals of the French Open for the third year in a row on Tuesday, has played in the Stella tournament once before.

The Australian Open champion reached the third round of the tournament, which is held at London's Queen's Club, in 2000.

Defending champion Lleyton Hewitt of Australia and last year's beaten finalist Tim Henman of Britain are also in the field.

The tournament starts on June 9.
