Alami ousts Corretja at Gelsor Open

BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) -- Morocco's Karim Alami ousted top seeded Alex Corretja of Spain Friday in the quarterfinals of the clay court dlrs 325,000 Gelsor Open Romania tournament.

The match ended 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1), after Alami, ranked 60th on the ATP tour, scored three points in the tie-break to defeat the 10th-ranked Corretja.

Both players served well, with five aces each.

Alami will meet Alberto Berasategui of Spain in the semifinals.

Berasategui defeated Juan-Antonio Marin of Costa-Rica, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to earn his spot there. The Spaniard played aggressively, placing long shots near the line.
