MELBOURNE (Reuters) -- Former finalist Thomas Enqvist and Spaniard Albert Costa have withdrawn from the 2001 Australian Open which starts next week due to injury, tournament organizers said Monday.

Sweden's Enqvist, ranked ninth on the ATP Tour's world rankings and a beaten finalist in Melbourne in 1999, pulled out of the year's first Grand Slam event after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder and foot.
