Coetzer, Hrdlickova win at SEAT Open Updated: Monday October 22, 2001 5:13 PM LUXEMBOURG (AP) -- Third seed Amanda Coetzer cruised into the second round of the US$170,000 SEAT Open Monday with a straight sets victory over Germany's Barbara Rittner. Coetzer brushed aside her opponent 6-2, 6-2 with a performance that suggests the South African will be a serious contender for the title she won in 1997. In the opening match, Kveta Hrdlickova of the Czech Republic overcame Lilia Osterloh of the United States 6-2, 6-2. Patty Schnyder of Switzerland outlasted Gala Leon Garcia in a first set tiebreak, then overwhelmed the Spaniard in the second set to finish the match 7-6 (7), 6-0. Without last year's winner and world No. 1 Jennifer Capriati, Kim Clijsters of Belgium is the favorite to recapture the title she took in 1999. Clijsters, fifth in the world rankings, has a bye in the first round, along with second seed Silvia Farina of Italy. Amelie Mauresmo, the world No. 7, had been expected to make a strong challenge for the US$27,000 first prize, but a leg injury forced her to pull out over the weekend.
