LUXEMBOURG (AP) -- The comeback of fifth-seeded Anna Kournikova from a foot injury continued to go well when she beat Slovak teen-ager Daniela Hantuchova in straight sets Thursday in the second round of the SEAT Open.

The Russian breezed through the first set. Then Hantuchova's strong serve-and-volley game forced a tiebreaker in the second. But Kournikova won 7-4 to close out a 6-1, 7-6 victory.

Kournikova entered this $170,000 tournament after losing five consecutive matches. She is recovering from a foot injury that had sidelined her for most of the season.

Kournikova. ranked 22nd in the world, could face top-seeded Kim Clijsters in the next round. Clijsters, ranked fifth, played Rita Grande later in the day. Clijsters won this tournament in 1999.

In another early match, Meilen Tu beat Jennifer Hopkins 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
