AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) -- Anna Kournikova beat seventh-seeded Amy Frazier 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the ASB Bank Classic.

Kournikova, coming back from a foot injury and still seeking her first WTA title, next faces Emmanuelle Gagliardi of Switzerland. Gagliardi beat American Kristina Brandi 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Kournikova capitalized on her opponent's poor serving to win her second straight match. She refused to talk about her chances of winning the $140,000 tuneup for the Australian Open.

"I'm really happy that I won, that I was playing so good," Kournikova said. "Of course, I have some goals right now -- staying healthy, getting into shape and [getting] to the ranking where I was before my injury and go from there."

Only two seeds remain in the singles competition, and neither is on Kournikova's side of the draw.

Tatiana Poutcheck of Belarus beat second-seeded Henrietta Nagyova of Slovakia 7-5, 6-3.

Third-seeded Anne Kremer of Luxembourg will play No. 5 Tatiana Panova of Russia in another quarterfinal. Panova beat American Jennifer Hopkins 6-4, 6-2.

Kremer beat qualifier Barbara Schwartz of Austria 6-2, 6-4 in the second round.
