Portas, Arazi upset in Barcelona

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) -- Seeded players Albert Portas and Hicham Arazi lost Monday in the first round of the $955,000 Seat Godo clay-court tournament.

Zeljko Krajan of Croatia beat the 10th-seeded Arazi 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, while Alberto Martin of Spain topped No. 13 Portas 7-5, 6-3.

In other action, Barcelona native Marc Lopez eliminated Spanish Davis Cup team member Tommy Robredo 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 in 2 hours, 26 minutes.

Lopez, ranked 133rd, meets No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt of Australia on Wednesday.

"I know it's going to be a tough match, but I'm looking forward to it and hope I can play well," Lopez said.

The only seeded player who won Monday was No. 14 Juan Ignacio Chela, who beat Jarkko Nieminen 6-4, 6-4.

Also advancing to the second round were Olivier Rochus, Gaston Gaudio, Franco Squillari, Stefano Galvani, Dominik Hrbaty and Felix Mantilla.
