Reeves wins at J&S Cup

WARSAW, Poland (AP) - Silvija Talaja of Croatia beat
second-seeded Tatiana Poutchek of Belarus 6-4, 6-2 in the first
round of the dlrs 170,000 J&S Cup WTA tournament on Monday.
Sixth-seeded Samantha Reeves of the United States beat Jana
Kandarr of Germany 7-6 (4), 6-2. Kandarr made the quarterfinals in
1996 and 2000, when the tournament was called Warsaw Cup by Heroes.
Eight-seeded Stephanie Foretz of France defeated Evgenia
Koulikovskaya of Russia 7-5, 6-2.
Seda Noorlander of the Netherlands beat Jana Nejedly of Canada
6-1, 7-5.
