PARIS (AP) -- Marcelo Rios withdrew from the French Open on Friday with a knee injury.

Rios, seeded 22nd, had to quit his match against Juan-Carlos Ferrero in the third round at Monte Carlo in April because of knee pain.

Rios was a quarterfinalist at the Australian Open and a semifinalist at Miami this year. He was a quarterfinalist at Roland Garros in 1998 and 1999.

He will be replaced in the field by a "lucky loser," the player with the highest ranking who lost in the final round of qualifying.
