SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Lindsay Davenport, sidelined nine months by a knee injury, returns to the WTA Tour Tuesday in the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford.

After a pair of Fed Cup matches over the weekend, it looks like Davenport hasn't missed a beat.

She defeated Israel's Anna Smashnova in straight sets in Saturday's opening match and then outlasted Tzipi Obziler on Sunday.

Davenport, ranked No. 9, had surgery in January to repair cartilage in her right knee. After nine weeks on crutches, her rehabilitation progressed well and the injury "is out of my mind already."

"I haven't felt in practice in the last few weeks that I shouldn't go for a shot because of my knee," she said.

Davenport joins second-ranked Venus Williams, two-time Bank of the West champion Monica Seles and defending champion Kim Clijsters in the $585,000 event at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
