(AP) -- Vera Zvonareva withdrew from the Acura Classic hard-court tournament with a left elbow injury Friday. The right-handed Russian, who uses a two-fisted backhand, upset Venus Williams in the fourth round of the French Open -- Williams' earliest loss at a Grand Slam tournament in two years. Zvonareva, who's ranked 16th, lost to Williams in the fourth round at Wimbledon. The Acura Classic, a tuneup for the U.S. Open, starts Monday. |
