DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- Another player has pulled out the singles portion of the Dubai Tennis Championships on the second day of the tournament that was hit by a rush of withdrawals Monday, and a marquee withdrawal struck the doubles draw as well.

Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova withdrew due to illness on Monday. French Open winner Li Na and Vera Zvonareva also pulled out Monday because of injury.

On Tuesday, Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia retired with a hamstring injury during a match against Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic. Benesova was leading 3-1 in the first set.

Organizers say Maria Kirilenko of Russia pulled out of the doubles part of the tournament due to a neck injury. Kirilenko advanced to the second round of singles Monday, defeating Monica Niculescu of Romania, 6-3, 6-0, and was scheduled to play doubles with Sabine Lisicki.

Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka is the top-seeded player at the Dubai tournament.
