BASEBALL TRANSACTIONS
Boston Red Sox -- Activated infielder Jose Offerman from the 15-day disabled list; optioned pitcher Dan Smith to Pawtucket of the International League (AAA).
San Diego Padres -- Transferred pitcher Sterling Hitchcock from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list; purchased the contract of pitcher Carlos Reyes from Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); optioned pitcher Domingo Guzman to Las Vegas.
Texas Rangers -- Designated outfielder Jason McDonald for assignment.


BASKETBALL TRANSACTIONS
Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs (USBL) -- Signed and activated guard Corey Brewer.


FOOTBALL TRANSACTIONS
Arizona Cardinals -- Signed free agent defensive tackle Tony McCoy, who had been with the Indianapolis Colts, to a two-year contract.
Philadelphia Eagles -- Signed running back-returner Brian Mitchell, who had been with the Washington Redskins, to a two-year contract.


HOCKEY TRANSACTIONS
Mighty Ducks of Anaheim -- Acquired goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere from the Calgary Flames for a second-round pick.
