BASEBALL TRANSACTIONS
Milwaukee Brewers -- Named Lynn Sprangers vice president of community and governmental affairs.
Montreal Expos -- Optioned infielder Trace Coquillette to Ottawa of the International League; recalled third baseman Michael Barrett from Ottawa.
Seattle Mariners -- Placed catcher Dan Wilson on the 15-day disabled list with a pulled left oblique muscle; recalled catcher Joe Oliver from Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League (AAA), effective Thursday.
Tampa Bay Devil Rays -- Placed third baseman Vinny Castilla on the 15-day disabled list with lower back inflammation; recalled infielder Bobby Smith from Durham of the International League (AAA).
Texas Rangers -- Transferred pitcher Danny Kolb from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list; assigned outfielder Jason McDonald to Oklahoma of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); claimed pitcher Scott Randall off waivers from the Minnesota Twins and assigned him to Oklahoma.
Toronto Blue Jays -- Optioned pitcher Clayton Andrews to Syracuse of the International League (AAA); recalled pitcher Matt DeWitt from Syracuse; signed the following draft picks: pitchers Eric Stephenson and Scott Cavey, second baseman Ulyses Davenport and catcher Kurt Keene.
Charleston Alley Cats (South Atlantic League/A) -- Activated catcher-first baseman Emmanuel Santana and shortstop Steve Medrano from extended spring training; sent pitcher Brannon Baranowski and first baseman Chad Santos to Spokane of the Northwest League.
Modesto A's (California League/A) -- Activated pitcher Mike Holmes.

Washington Wizards -- Named Leonard Hamilton coach and signed him to a multi-year contract.
Yakima Sun Kings (CBA) -- Re-signed coach Paul Woolpert for the 2000-01 season.
Gulf Coast SunDogs (USBL) -- Released guard Artemus McClary.
Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs (USBL) -- Signed center Brent Dabbs.
Washington Congressionals (USBL) -- Activated forward Wayne Houston.


FOOTBALL TRANSACTIONS
Chicago Bears -- Signed running back Derrick Foster; waived cornerback Jermaine Jones; waived and reached an injury settlement with cornerback Cedric Donaldson; named Avery Robbins director of corporate sales and Chris Hanks assistant trainer.
Dallas Cowboys -- Fullback Daryl Johnston announced his retirement.
Miami Dolphins -- Re-signed kicker Olindo Mare; waived wide receiver Yatil Green.
New Orleans Saints -- Signed wide receiver Sherrod Gideon to a three-year contract.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers (CFL) -- Released defensive lineman Anthony Jenkins.

Buffalo Sabres -- Announced they will not exercise the option on the contract of right wing Rob Ray for the 2000-01 season.
Chicago Blackhawks -- Re-signed right wing Ryan VandenBussche.
Colorado Avalanche -- Re-signed defenseman Ray Bourque to a one-year contract with an option.
Florida Panthers -- Signed right wing Denis Shvidki, their first-round pick in the 1999 draft.
Los Angeles Kings -- Purchased the new American Hockey League franchise in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Nashville Predators -- Signed defensemen John Namestnikov and Rory Fitzpatrick.
Grand Rapids Griffins (IHL) -- Named Bob Kaser play-by play announcer.
South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) -- Re-signed defenseman Jared Bednar.


COLLEGE TRANSACTIONS
Alabama-Birmingham -- Named David Giffard men's assistant soccer coach.
Appalachian State -- Named Robert Norton athletic ticket manager.
New Mexico State -- Announced all athletic teams will be known as the Aggies.
Robert Morris -- Named Matt Raich and Dave Zeiler assistant football coaches.
Saint Louis -- Named John Ishee women's assistant basketball coach.
South Carolina -- Named Tom Perry associate athletic director for academic support and student services.
Texas Christian -- Named Steve Fink director of athletic media relations.
