Atlanta Braves -- Signed third baseman Chipper Jones to a six-year contract extension.
Cleveland Indians -- Purchased the contract of infielder Enohel Polanco from the Sioux Falls Canaries of the Northern League (Independent).
Houston Astros -- Placed pitcher Jay Powell on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder; recalled pitcher Jason Green from New Orleans of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).
Minor League Baseball -- Named Scott Poley general counsel and secretary.
Newark Bears (Atlantic League/Independent) -- Signed outfielder Reggie Williams.


BASKETBALL TRANSACTIONS
Miami Heat -- Announced the resignation of television analyst Jack Ramsay.
Philadelphia 76ers -- Signed free agent guard Jermaine Jackson, who had been with the Detroit Pistons.

NFL -- Fined Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis $250,000 for conduct detrimental to the league.
