Cleveland Indians -- Recalled infielder John McDonald from Buffalo of the International League (AAA); optioned infielder-outfielder Chan Perry to Buffalo; signed infielder Sean Berry to a minor league contract and assigned him to Buffalo. Detroit Tigers -- Signed catcher Brad Wise to a minor league contract. Los Angeles Dodgers -- Placed infielder-outfielder F.P. Santangelo on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 23, with a torn ulnar ligament in his left thumb; purchased the contract of infielder Jeff Branson from Albuquerque of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); designated pitcher Apostol Garcia for assignment. Minnesota Twins -- Re-signed shortstop Cristian Guzman to a four-year contract with a club option for 2004.
