Chicago Cubs -- Acquired shortstop Alex Gonzalez from the Toronto Blue Jays for pitcher Felix Heredia and a player to be named. Milwaukee Brewers -- Sent outright pitchers Gene Altman and Jose Garcia to Indianapolis of the International League (AAA). New York Mets -- Re-signed pitcher Pete Walker to a minor-league contract. New York Yankees -- Named Rick Down hitting coach and Rich Monteleone bullpen coach. St. Louis Cardinals -- Signed free agent pitcher Jason Isringhausen, who had been with the Oakland Athletics, to a four-year contract with a club option for 2006. Columbus Clippers (International League) -- Named Brian Butterfield manager, Tom Filer pitching coach and Dan Radison hitting coach. FOOTBALL TRANSACTIONS NFL -- Suspended Detroit Lions safety Tommy Bennett four games for violating the league's steroid policy. Cincinnati Bengals -- Waived tight end Marco Battaglia from the reserve/non-football illness list; released kicker Jaret Holmes from the practice squad. Denver Broncos -- Placed safety Darius Clark on injured reserve with a torn left anterior cruciate ligament. Jacksonville Jaguars -- Suspended wide receiver R. Jay Soward indefinitely for an undisclosed violation of team policy. Chicago Rush (Arena Football) -- Signed lineman Rich McKenzie to a two-year contract.
