BASEBALL TRANSACTIONS
Arizona Diamondbacks -- Agreed to terms with outfielder Danny Bautista on a three-year contract; named Robin Yount first base coach.
Boston Red Sox -- Agreed to terms with infielder Carlos Baerga on a minor-league contract.
Cleveland Indians -- Signed pitchers Heath Murray, Dave Maurer J.D. Brammer and infielder Bill Selby to minor league contracts.
Colorado Rockies -- Acquired second baseman Pokey Reese and pitcher Dennys Reyes from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for pitchers Luke Hudson and Gabe White.
Kansas City Royals -- Signed free agent outfielder Chuck Knoblauch, who had been with the New York Yankees, to a one-year contract.
New York Yankees -- Re-signed free agent pitcher Sterling Hitchcock to a two-year contract.
St. Louis Cardinals -- Signed free agent first baseman Tino Martinez, who had been with the New York Yankees, to a three-year contract.
Texas Rangers -- Acquired pitcher John Rocker from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for pitcher David Elder.
Toronto Blue Jays -- Signed pitcher Chris Peters and outfielders Chad Mottola and Brian Lesher to minor league contracts.


BASKETBALL TRANSACTIONS
Miami Heat -- Signed guard Mike James; placed forward Sean Marks on the injured list with a cervical strain.
Minnesota Timberwolves -- Placed guard Terrell Brandon on the injured list with a loose body in his left knee; activated guard Maurice Evans from the injured list.
Sacramento Kings -- Activated forward Lawrence Funderburke from the injured list; waived forward Jabari Smith.

Cincinnati Bengals -- Placed quarterback Akili Smith on injured reserve; signed linebacker Chris Edmonds to the active roster; signed wide receiver Khori Ivey and quarterback Kevin Thompson to the practice squad.
Detroit Lions -- Waived punter Leo Araguz; signed guard Tyrone Hopson; signed tight end John Waerig to the practice squad; placed guard Josh Lovelady on the practice squad injured reserve list.

NHL -- Suspended Calgary Flames left wing Craig Berube five games without pay for a cross-checking incident involving St. Louis Blues center Doug Weight in Saturday's game.
Buffalo Sabres -- Assigned goaltender Mika Noronen to Rochester of the American Hockey League; recalled left wing Taylor Pyatt from Rochester.
Calgary Flames -- Acquired defenseman Petr Buzek and a conditional draft choice from the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for left wing Jeff Cowan and defenseman Kurtis Foster.
Florida Panthers -- Claimed defenseman Darren Van Impe off waivers from the New York Rangers.
