BASEBALL TRANSACTIONS
Major League Baseball - Suspended San Francisco Giants catcher Benito Santiago two games and fined him an undisclosed amount for making contact with umpire Mark Hirschbeck on several occasions in the ninth inning of a game against the San Diego Padres on September 15.
Cleveland Indians - Named Paddy Jarit director of medical services.
Colorado Rockies - Recalled pitcher Cory Vance from Carolina of the Southern League
(AA).
Los Angeles Dodgers - Acquired pitcher Jason Frasor from the Detroit Tigers to complete the July 27 trade involving Hiram Bocachica.
Pittsburgh Pirates - Extended their player development contract with Lynchburg of the Carolina League (A) through the 2006 season.
San Diego Padres -- Extended their player development contract with Lake Elsimore of the California League (A) through the 2006 season.
Portland Seadogs (Eastern League) -- Signed a player development contract with the Boston Red Sox through the 2004 season.

Chicago Bulls -- Signed guards Rick Brunson and Doug Overton
Orlando Magic -- Signed forward Jermaine Walker.


FOOTBALL TRANSACTIONS
Detroit Lions -- Signed running back Richard Huntley.
Denver Broncos -- Waived center Jason Scukanec from the practice squad; signed center Chris Watton and assigned him to the practice squad.
Green Bay Packers -- Placed offensive tackle Mark Tauscher on injured reserve; signed running back Maurice Smith.
Edmonton Eskimos (CFL) -- Signed cornerback Darrel Crutchfield.
Tennessee Valley Vipers (Arena2) -- Signed coach and director of football operations Kevin Guy to a one-year extension.


HOCKEY TRANSACTIONS
Buffalo Sabres -- Signed center Jiri Novotny to a multi-year contract.
Carolina Hurricanes -- Returned Cam Ward, Daniel Manzato, Carter Trevisani, Jesse Lane, and Adam Taylor to their junior teams; assigned goaltenders Rob Zepp and Daniel Boisclair, defensemen Ed Hill, Greg Kuznik, Sean Curry, Peter Reynolds, Shaun Fisher, and Jared Newman, forwards Anthony Battaglia, Jeff Daw, Marty Johnston, Brett Lysak, Brent McDonald, Laurent Meunier and David Evans to Lowell of the American Hockey League.
Chicago Blackhawks -- Returned goaltender Adam Munro, forward Miguel Delisle and defenseman Stephan Mokhov to their junior teams.
Colorado Avalanche -- Assigned center Joe Goodenow, right wing Mikhail Kuleshov and defensemen Jeff Dessner, Alex Riazantsev, Brent Thompson and Tim Wedderburn to Hershey of the American Hockey League.
Montreal Canadiens -- Agreed to terms with right wing Richard Zednik on a two-year contract; returned forwards Jonathan Ferland and Duncan Milroy, defenseman Andrew Archer and qoaltender Oliver Michaud to their junior teams.
Philadelphia Flyers -- Named Joe O'Sullivan vice president of marketing and sales; promoted Cecilia Baker to vice president of ticket operations; promoted Nicole Allison to director of season ticket sales and services.
Pittsburgh Penguins -- Returned Dwight LaBrosse, Drew Fata, Alexandre Rouleau, Erik Christensen, Pierre Morvan, Cam Paddock, and Maxime Talbot to their junior teams.
St. Louis Blues -- Assigned defenseman Dale Clarke, Lauri Kinos, Brian McMeekin, Arvid Rekis, Chad Starling, Mike Stuart, and Terry Virtue, forwards Tyler Beechy, Greg Davis, Blake Evans, Jeff Panzer, John Pohl, Daniel Tkaczuk, Igor Valeev, and Brad Voth to the Worcester IceCats of the American Hockey League; returned forwards D.J. King, Jay McClement, Andrei Mikhnov, and Tomas Troliga to their junior/European teams; released forward Kent Davyduke.
Toronto Maple Leafs -- Returned Brendan Bell, Nicolas Corbeil, Dominic D'Amour, Todd Ford, Matt Stajan, Kyle Wellwood, Ian White and Tyson Marsh to their junior teams
Greensboro Generals (ECHL) - Re-signed left wing Vlad Scrov.
Louisiana IceGators (ECHL) -- Announced they have renewed their affiliation agreements with Minnesota of the National Hockey League and Houston of the American Hockey League.
Mississippi Sea Wolves (ECHL) -- Signed defenseman Chris Cava to a one-year contract.
Richmond Renegades (ECHL) -- Signed left wing Shawn Mamane, goalie Dan Lombard, and defenseman Rich Spiller.
Trenton Titans (ECHL) -- Named Richard Lisk president and general manager, effective October 7.

Chicago Fire (MLS) - Acquired forward Dipsy Selolwane.
MetroStars (MLS) - Recalled goalkeeper Jeff Cassar from Atlanta of the A-League.
