BASEBALL TRANSACTIONS
Major League Baseball - Suspended New York Yankees pitcher Paul Quantrill three games and fined him an undisclosed amount for intentionally throwing at a batter in a May 24 game against Detroit; suspended Yankees manager Joe Torre one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for Quantrill's actions.
Arizona Diamondbacks - Signed infielder Stephen Drew, their 2004 first-round pick.
Atlanta Braves - Activated pitcher Mike Hampton from the 15-day disabled list; designated outfielder Raul Mondesi for assignment.
Cleveland Indians - Activated outfielder Juan Gonzalez from the 15-day disabled list; designated outfielder Ryan Ludwick for assignment.
Detroit Tigers - Recalled first baseman Chris Shelton from Toledo of the International League (AAA); optioned first baseman Carlos Pena to Toledo.
Houston Astros - Recalled second baseman Chris Burke from Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); optioned Ezequiel Astacio to Round Rock.
Kansas City Royals - Named Buddy Bell manager; purchased the contract of outfielder Shane Costa from Wichita of the Texas League (AA); designated outfielder Eli Marrero for assignment.
Los Angeles Dodgers - Purchased the contract of catcher Mike Rose from Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); optioned catcher Dioner Navarro to Las Vegas; designated pitcher Buddy Carlyle for assignment.
Minnesota Twins - Placed second baseman Luis Rivas on the 15-day disabled list with a back injury; recalled outfielder Michael Ryan from Rochester of the Interantional League (AAA); purchased the contract of infielder Brent Abernathy from Rochester; optioned infielder Terry Tiffee to Rochester.
Pittsburgh Pirates - Signed pitcher Brad Clapp, their 2004 19th-round pick.
Seattle Mariners - Recalled infielder Mike Morse from Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); designated infielder Wilson Valdez for assignment.
Toronto Blue Jays - Activated outfielder Frank Catalanotto from the bereavement list; optioned outfielder Gabe Gross to Syracuse of the International League (AAA).
Washington Nationals - Placed pitcher Zach Day on 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 26, with a fractured right wrist.

Milwaukee Bucks - Announced the resignation of assistant coach Jim Boylen to become an assistant at Michigan State.

Chicago Bears - Signed running back Antoineo Harris to a two-year contract.

Calgary Stampeders (CFL) - Released defensive back Terrence Moore.

Greenville Grrrowl (ECHL) - Named Ryan Stewart general manager.

Massachusetts - Announced center Luke Bonner has transferred from West Virginia University and will be eligible to play basketball in the 2006-07 season.
St. Cloud State - Named Bob Motzko men's assistant hockey coach.
Utah State - Named Don Holst men's assistant basketball coach.
Wichita State - Named Alvin Williamson men's assistant basketball coach.
